Hoke Hiddenite family fun!

Every year we load up the Land Rover with 2 kids, 3 dogs and the Thule stuffed full on top and make the trek to Hiddenite, NC for Memorial Day weekend and the big Hoke clan family gathering! Tommy's 86 year old Mom Alva and 81 yr old Aunt Rita live on 75+ acres of beauty in the foothills of NC. Along that property is a spring that feeds into a giant pool that Tommy's Grand Dad built years ago. We gather together early in May to patch the cement and paint the pool then after the paint cures and dries, Alva opens up the spring and fills the pool. It's just about the best pool I've ever been in. The water is so cold and refreshing on a hot summer day!

we're coming along

the three stooges paint themselves into a corner!! Haha!

and the completed project!

all filled up!!

time for some family fun!

Fun for people AND dogs!

"No one can see me!"

Family fun is exhausting!

it doesn't get much better than this!!

the boys grill out while Alva and Rita supervise!

the dogs wait for hopeful "Grill fallout!" They were not disappointed!

the view of the pool from the cabin where we always stay

even the dogs know their way round this place!

the beautiful hike up the road from the cabin/pool past the cow pastures to the other end of the property and Alva's house

the dogs love the freedom they have here to roam acres and acres with no leashes!!

My favorite spot in the cabin, sitting in the rocking chairs on the porch drinking coffee or the "mystery" drink in the red solo cup!! :-)

We love this place. No more relaxing and quiet spot anywhere. One more trip back later this summer before football madness commences!
